Professor Kayode Adeniji,

Welcome address

It’s a great privilege to welcome you to Department of Pathology, University of Ilorin. As a subspecialty in the pathological sciences, it’s a link between basic medical and clinical sciences. Little wonder therefore that the pathological sciences are the first points of call for medical students transiting from basic to clinical sciences in their undergraduate training.
Students acquire knowledge on causes, pathogenesis, diagnosis and complications of diseases necessary to make diagnosis and plan course of treatment during clinical rotations.
The department engages in translational research wherein discoveries in the laboratory are applied to studies in humans to resolve clinical problems i. e. from the bench to the bedside.
Finally, the department is involved in community outreach activities to educate the community on basic public health issues as well as prevention and control diseases. Welcome to a world of innovation and development.

Professor Kayode Adeniji,
Head of Department.
